We are seeking a mid-level AWS Cloud Developer to join our team supporting the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Data Engineering and Processing (DEAP) project. This role involves developing, maintaining, and enhancing high-volume data ingestion pipelines that are crucial to CFTC's operations. Your work will ensure the integrity and functionality of vital regulatory and analytical systems. As part of an Agile team, you will be involved in designing, coding, testing, and implementing AWS cloud solutions. You will collaborate closely with team members and stakeholders to gather requirements, estimate tasks, and provide solutions that migrate and promote data and algorithms to AWS. A key aspect of your work will involve supporting database and systems design as well as participating in code reviews and cloud deployments. The role requires presence onsite up to three specific days weekly in Washington, D.C., with the flexibility of two telecommuting days. This role involves developing, maintaining, and enhancing high-volume data ingestion pipelines that are crucial to CFTC's operations. Your work will ensure the integrity and functionality of vital regulatory and analytical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of an Agile team to design, code, test, and implement AWS cloud-based solutions.
  • Provide engineering support for data migration and cloud database maintenance.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders for requirement gathering and task estimations.
  • Conduct routine data checks and quality assessments.
  • Participate in database and systems analysis, design, and implementation.
  • Contribute to code reviews and support cloud deployments.
  • Provide regular progress updates within the Agile framework and through weekly status reports.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science plus 5 years of relevant experience or High School Diploma and 9 years of experience.
  • Proficiency with AWS tools (API Gateway, Lambda, S3, etc.) and programming languages (Python, XML).
  • Experience with data migration strategies and ETL processes using AWS resources.
  • US Citizenship and capability to obtain CFTC agency clearance.
  • AWS Developer certification.

Engagement Details

  • Location: Hybrid role based in Washington, D.C. with flexible telecommuting.
  • Must be onsite three days per week.
